The company has been in business for more than 60 years offering services to a variety of rail depots in Charlotte such as Norfolk Southern and CSX. The company serves clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Florida. We do not carry open top containers or HAZMAT.

A Family Tradition
Hucks Piggyback Service was founded by Tommy and Lydia Hucks in 1962. Tommy operated the Southern Railway Facility in Charlotte, NC for 18 years. During his time at Southern Railroad, which is now Norfolk Southern, Tommy saw a need for a "Piggyback" service. At the time, intermodal was referred to as piggybacking due to the stacking of containers on the train. Tommy bought four trucks and his son, Mike Hucks, became one of his first drivers. In dispatch, his daughter Linda and son Alan coordinated the logistics of the fleet.
